Contact South West Web Marketing 14 ways to get more retweets on Twitter For Your White Label Dating Site

Here are 14 very simple steps you can take to increase the chances of your content being retweeted..

How To Get Retweets

A simple retweet can be a powerful tool for businesses looking to reach out to new clients, increase brand awareness or enhance their reputation. It can also play a pivotal role in turning clicks into sales for your online dating site. But how can you secure more retweets?

Here are 14 very simple steps you can take to increase the chances of your content being retweeted.

1. Post interesting content - It's no secret that content is king on Twitter and social media so if you're not posting good quality, interesting content you're not going to earn those valuable retweets. Whatever you decide to tweet, make sure that it has value to your followers. Try setting up Google Alerts for "Casual Dating" - try pushing that content around and see what happens!

2. Add useful links - It's been proven that tweets containing links garner more retweets than generic content. Try linking to your blog, a newspaper story or any other interesting content. Use a URL shortening service like bitly.com to keep tweets short.

3. Make use of hashtags - It's safe to say the hash mark has received more usage in the last seven years than the seven centuries that preceded the advent of Twitter. Hashtags have become a fundamental aspect of the 140-character social media site (and others), and tweets including a hashtag have been shown to increase the chances of a retweet by almost 16%. For example #onlinedating or #whitelabeldating

4. Include pictures - Pictures are a great way of grabbing the attention of Twitter users. They break up the humdrum nature of text only tweets and add a little extra colour to the feed. According to recent research, they also increase the likelihood of other users retweeting your content by fourfold.

5. Utilise numbers and statistics - There are lies, damn lies and then there are statistics. Despite the somewhat dubious reputation associated with statistics, social media users love to read statistics, and number in general. According to some studies, tweets that feature numbers are almost 20% more likely to be retweeted.

6. Avoid overdoing the self-promotion - Social media marketing has to include some degree of self-promotion – it is marketing after all – but don't expect company-centric tweets to gain much traction. Instead, use popular topics (news, opinion pieces, how-to guides, entertainment, etc.) to reel your followers in and then talk about your company. So for example - instead of bragging about how good your dating site is - try a bit to spread the love, congratulate a competitor maybe!

7. Optimise the length of your tweets - If you really want retweets you need to make it easy for your followers. Using the full 140-character allowance for your tweet means other users will need to edit it to retweet it. Try then to limit you tweets, at least those you want retweeted, to less than 100 characters.

8. Mention other tweeters - Mentioning other Twitter users means you can reach out to other followers than your own and in turn increase the likelihood of a) increasing your own following, and b) earning a valuable retweet. If you invite your dating clientelle to follow you - then you can let them know of special offers etc.

9. Retweet other users - Whichever platform you use, one of the keys to a successful social media campaign is the understanding that there’s a high level of give and take at play here. In terms of Twitter, if you retweet another user's tweet, they're more likely to retweet yours. Do this with a selection of tweeters and you're on a roll.

10. Take a positive approach - Whatever type of content you're tweeting, it's vital to adopt a positive approach and to demonstrate enthusiasm. If you’re not positive or enthusiastic about what you’re tweeting, why should anybody else be? Try not to be too OTT though; too much enthusiasm can be off-putting.

11. Tweet during 'busy' times - If you really want to gain some exposure you must first grab the attention. That's easier said than done when it comes to the 'instant' world of Twitter. To maximise your chances of grabbing the attention of your followers, post at times when they’re online. In many cases this will be outside of traditional working hours, during the evening or over the weekend. Don't work weekends? Use scheduling software (e.g. Hootsuite) to post your tweets.

12. Reach out to an international audience - The internet has made it much easier for businesses to work internationally. If you're looking to reach an international audience you’ll need to remember to interact outside of your time zone. Again, use scheduling apps to help you post tweets at times relevant to your overseas followers.

13. Don't go tweet crazy - In the world of Twitter, less is often more. If you're looking to make a real impact, and if you're looking for retweets, be sure to limit the number of tweets you post in a short time frame. Too many tweets in quick succession will get lost in the 'noise' while a single tweet at the right time can be hugely successful.

14. Ask for a retweet - Finally, if you really want that precious retweet, just ask. Sure, not all of your followers will acquiesce, but you might be surprised by just how many will be happy to oblige.

So there we go, 14 ways to get more retweets on Twitter and increase your online visibility.
